La canción representa una crítica a la religión, mientras que también contiene indirectas de John Lennon a sus excompañeros en The Betles, Paul McCartney y George Harrison. Al primero lo menciona en la línea "I seen religion from Jesus to Paul". Como se sabe, "Paul" es "Pablo" en inglés, con lo que la frase adquiere una referencia doble hacia McCartney y hacia el apóstol Pablo. Por otro lado, ironiza con Harrison sobre la religión hindú de la que éste fue tan devoto desde cierto momento en la historia de la exbanda.
