Esta canción fue escrita en marzo de 1970 sobre la primera esposa de Bowie, Angela "Angie" Barnett. Se casaron ese mismo año y tuvieron un hijo, ahora conocido como Duncan Jones (nacido como Zowie Bowie). Los dos se divorciaron en 1980 y, según Angie, los dos nunca volvieron a hablar.
